Aluminium Window Shroud Warranty
EZ Windows Aluminium Window Shroud Warranty
EZ Windows manufactures aluminium window shrouds to the dimensions, configuration, finish and manufacturing requirements approved or nominated for each project.
This warranty applies to the manufacturing and supplied product within the agreed scope of supply, subject to the terms, conditions, exclusions and limitations set out below.
The warranty does not transfer responsibility for architectural design, engineering, installation, building-envelope design, regulatory compliance or project suitability to EZ Windows.
Warranty Coverage
Subject to the terms of this warranty, EZ Windows warrants that the aluminium window shrouds supplied will be manufactured with reasonable care and skill and will conform materially to the approved manufacturing requirements within the agreed scope of supply.
Where a manufacturing defect attributable to EZ Windows is established within the applicable warranty period, EZ Windows will, at its discretion and subject to applicable law:
- Repair the affected product;
- Replace the affected product or component; or
- Provide another appropriate remedy.
The remedy will be determined having regard to the nature of the defect, the product supplied and the circumstances of the claim.
What the Warranty Covers
Subject to the exclusions below, warranty coverage may apply to defects arising from:
- Manufacturing workmanship
- Fabrication
- Welding
- Assembly
- Supplied components
- Manufacturing-related dimensional errors
where those defects are attributable to EZ Windows and fall within the agreed scope of manufacture.
Powder-Coated and Finished Products
Where aluminium window shrouds are powder coated or otherwise finished, the finish applied will be the finish specified, selected or chosen for the project.
The applicable finish warranty is subject to:
- The coating system selected
- The coating manufacturer’s warranty
- Environmental exposure
- Maintenance requirements
- Cleaning requirements
- The applicable warranty period
- The conditions of the relevant coating system
EZ Windows does not warrant that a particular finish will be suitable for an environment that was not disclosed or appropriately considered when the finish was selected.
Finish Standards
Powder-coated finishes are manufactured and applied using established coating processes.
Normal characteristics associated with powder-coated aluminium can include minor variations in:
- Colour
- Texture
- Gloss
- Surface appearance
- Film appearance
These characteristics do not necessarily constitute a manufacturing defect.
Assessment of a finish should take into account the nominated coating system, accepted industry requirements and normal viewing conditions.
Colour Matching
Where a project requires colour matching, the nominated colour shall be the colour or coating system approved for manufacture.
Colour variation may occur between:
- Different production batches
- Different coating systems
- Different substrates
- Different production dates
- Different manufacturers
Where exact colour matching between separately manufactured products is critical, this should be addressed during project specification and procurement.
Coating Warranty
Where a powder-coating manufacturer’s warranty applies, the relevant coating warranty may be subject to separate terms and conditions.
EZ Windows’ obligations in relation to a coating issue are limited to the extent of the warranty applicable to the supplied finish and the obligations accepted by EZ Windows for that finish.
Where appropriate, the relevant coating manufacturer may be required to assess a coating claim.
Warranty Period
The applicable warranty period shall be stated in the relevant EZ Windows quotation, order confirmation, contract, warranty document or other written agreement applying to the project.
Where no specific warranty period has been agreed, the applicable statutory consumer guarantees and other rights under Australian law continue to apply to the extent required by law.
Statutory Rights
Nothing in this warranty is intended to exclude, restrict or modify any right, remedy, guarantee or condition that cannot lawfully be excluded, restricted or modified under applicable Australian law.
Where the Australian Consumer Law or other applicable legislation provides rights that cannot be excluded, those rights continue to apply.

- Laws
- Regulations
- Building requirements
- Planning requirements
- Authority requirements
- Australian Standards
- Engineering requirements
- Certification requirements
unless EZ Windows has expressly accepted a specific obligation in writing.

EZ Windows is not responsible for errors arising from incorrect dimensions supplied or approved for manufacture unless EZ Windows has separately undertaken a site-measurement or verification service in writing.
Modification Exclusion
Any unauthorised modification to a supplied shroud may invalidate the warranty to the extent that the modification contributes to the claimed defect or failure.
Examples include:
- Cutting
- Drilling
- Welding
- Grinding
- Reworking
- Altering fixing locations
- Altering corners
- Applying incompatible coatings
Transport Damage
Where transportation is arranged by a party other than EZ Windows, responsibility for damage occurring after transfer of the product to the carrier may rest with the responsible transport or receiving party, subject to the applicable contract and law.

- Industrial exposure
- Weather
Failure to undertake required maintenance may affect coating warranty claims.
Cleaning
Use cleaning methods appropriate for the nominated finish.
Avoid aggressive:
- Solvents
- Abrasive cleaners
- Harsh chemicals
- Abrasive tools
- Unapproved cleaning products
Where the coating manufacturer provides specific cleaning requirements, those requirements should be followed.
Coastal and Harsh Environments
Projects located in coastal, marine, industrial or otherwise aggressive environments may require specific coating systems and maintenance procedures.
The project team is responsible for selecting an appropriate finish where environmental exposure requires specialist assessment.
Warranty conditions may vary depending on the selected coating system and exposure category.
Warranty Claim Procedure
A warranty claim should be submitted to EZ Windows as soon as reasonably practicable after the suspected defect becomes apparent.
The claim should include:
- Project name
- Product identification
- Installation location
- Date of supply
- Description of the issue
- Photographs
- Relevant drawings
- Installation information
- Any other information reasonably requested
Warranty Assessment
EZ Windows may require reasonable access to inspect the product and determine the cause of the claimed defect.
The assessment may consider:
- Manufacturing records
- Approved drawings
- Product dimensions
- Finish specification
- Installation
- Site conditions
- Environmental exposure
- Maintenance
- Photographs
- Physical inspection
A warranty remedy will only be determined after the cause of the issue has been reasonably assessed.
Manufacturing Defect vs Installation Defect
It is important to distinguish between manufacturing defects and installation-related issues.
Manufacturing Issue
Examples may include:
- Fabrication defect
- Weld defect
- Incorrectly manufactured component
- Manufacturing-related dimensional error
Installation Issue
Examples may include:
- Incorrect fixing
- Incorrect alignment
- Inadequate support
- Incorrect sealant
- Site damage
- Installation modification
Installation-related defects are generally outside the manufacturing warranty where installation has been performed by another party.
Design Defect vs Manufacturing Defect
A product manufactured in accordance with supplied or approved design information may be correctly manufactured even if the underlying design subsequently proves unsuitable.
Where the issue arises from:
- Incorrect engineering
- Incorrect dimensions
- Inappropriate projection
- Inadequate support
- Incorrect fixing design
- Inappropriate application
the issue may be a design or project responsibility rather than a manufacturing defect.
Warranty Remedy
Where a valid warranty claim is accepted, EZ Windows may determine the appropriate remedy having regard to:
- Nature of the defect
- Extent of the defect
- Product availability
- Practicality of repair
- Replacement requirements
- Applicable contractual obligations
- Applicable law
Where required by law, the applicable statutory remedy will apply.
Consequential Loss
Any limitation concerning consequential loss, indirect loss, removal, reinstallation, access, scaffolding, labour or associated costs is subject to the applicable contract and law.
Nothing in this warranty excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded.
Warranty Transfer
Any transfer of warranty rights is subject to the applicable contract, warranty terms and law.
Where a property or project changes ownership, the applicable warranty documentation should be reviewed to determine whether the warranty is transferable.
Warranty Conditions
Warranty coverage may depend on:
- Correct installation
- Correct use
- Appropriate maintenance
- Appropriate storage
- Appropriate environmental conditions
- Compliance with the selected finish requirements
- No unauthorised modification
- Compliance with applicable project documentation
